Forty years ago, I set foot on a stage for the very first time as a raccoon in a preshow for Peter Pan at our local community theater. Since then I have been on and off stage during different seasons of my life in a variety of roles, including a majority of the last 13 years as a drama mama with the Apollo Youth Theatre, supervising children, painting sets, taking photographs, running sound, etc. as my kids came up through the programs. One thing I have never taken the opportunity to do until now is to direct. A huge thank you to Megan and Aubrey for inviting and encouraging me to direct the Apollo Youth Homeschool Program this spring. Thank you also to the parents for entrusting your children to me/us. It has been my joy and honor to direct these very talented kids in putting this production together. The story of Shrek Jr. is a particularly important one for our time because it’s all about learning to love and accept yourself and others exactly as you/they are. “What makes us special, makes us strong.” I also want to say a very special thank you to the rest of the amazing production team and the many parents and others who came alongside the cast to bring the vision for this show to life. Outside of the theatre you can find me pastoring the wonderful congregation of Tuscarora Presbyterian Church, drinking chai at Community Cup Coffee and More, spending time with my amazing and supportive husband, Paul, cheering on my kids. Thank you for your support of the Apollo Youth Programs. I hope you enjoy the show!
