Frequently Asked Questions
Do you accept the HOPE Scholarship?
Yes! We are excited to be an approved Education Service Provider through the West Virginia HOPE Scholarship program. When registering, you may select the HOPE Scholarship payment option. Tuition payments must then be submitted through the HOPE Scholarship Marketplace within 48 hours of registration to secure your child’s spot.
If you require additional time due to the release schedule of HOPE funds, please contact us at [email protected] before the 48-hour deadline to request an extension.
Please note that selecting the HOPE Scholarship payment option does not reserve a spot indefinitely. Registrations that are not paid through the HOPE Marketplace within the required timeframe, and for which no extension has been approved, or cancelled registrations, will incur an administrative fee equal to 30% of the registration cost, payable by the family directly and not eligible for HOPE Scholarship reimbursement. Failure to submit payment or communicate with us may also result in the student’s registration being canceled and the spot being offered to another participant.
Do I drop off for rehearsals, or can I stay with my child?
We do require that parents drop off for auditions and rehearsals unless there is an extenuating circumstance discussed ahead of time. Our program exists not only to foster creativity, but also to teach independence, teamwork, and leadership skills. We have found that our children and staff are able to focus more on the production and creative process when we do not have extra people in the theatre. There are several local businesses downtown that you may want to check out while you’re in the area if you’d prefer to stay close by!
Do you have safety & security processes in place?
Yes! Our theatre doors stay locked at all times during rehearsals. In addition, we are required by law to review emergency procedures with each cast including fire drills, etc. All staff are background checked, and we require all parent volunteers to receive background checks as well. The safety of your kids is our biggest priority!
What is the time commitment for this program?
Rehearsals are mandatory, and actors are permitted to miss no more than 3 unexcused. We understand things come up, and are happy to be flexible if needed for illnesses, emergencies, etc. Arriving 15 minutes late or leaving 15 minutes early counts as a tardy. 3 tardies = 1 absence. After 3 absences, roles may be reassigned or students may be dismissed from the program. Attendance is vital to our production regardless of the role you receive — we all work together to make the production great!
What additional costs will there be for the program?
You will have a costume fee of up to $75 and will be required to purchase tickets if you’d like to see the show. There will also be opportunities to buy additional t-shirts for family members.
Are there opportunities for parents to volunteer?
Yes! We love volunteers and will be calling on our families for help with set build, costumes, supervision, ushers, cast party, and more. More information will be announced for sign-ups after the program starts!
