Emma Shockey found her love for music in the sixth grade when she started on flute. Since then, she has learned to play just about anything, but focuses on bassoon. She has participated in almost all YSTW pit orchestras since 2018 on a variety of instruments. Recently, you would have seen her in Six: Teen Edition on piano and Newsies on the reed book. Emma earned her bachelors degree in Music Education with a Bassoon Performance Certificate from Shenandoah University in May of 2025. Highlights from her time at Shenandoah include touring Argentina with the Symphony Orchestra in 2023, performing two recitals with a variety of collaboration, being in the inaugural Shenandoah Marching Band in 2022 in the rock band, and being a drum major for the 2025-2026 season, also getting to march in the London New Years Day Parade. Emma is currently teaching PreK-5 music in Marshall, VA, and is excited to make her music director debut here at the Apollo this summer!
